    PALATINE, Ill. (AP) – A Marine from northeast Illinois has died while fighting in Afghanistan. The Department of Defense announced late Friday that 22-year-old Cpl. Christopher J. Boyd, of Palatine, died Thursday while supporting combat operations in Helmand province. Details haven’t been released.
